GEAPS Announces IOMSA Golden Ticket Award Winners

Published: Feb 11, 2025 by Krissy Ohnstad

GEAPS is excited to announce the inaugural winners of the IOMSA Golden Ticket Award Program. Aimed at grain processing professionals, the IOMSA Golden Ticket supports industry professionals who are looking to improve their workplace skills and knowledge through attendance at GEAPS Exchange. IOMSA Golden Ticket winners receive complimentary Exchange registration as well as a $500 travel stipend. This program is named for the International Oil Mill Superintendents Association which existed from 1905 to 2023 with a mission to promote the education, happiness and general well-being of its members, and thereby to further the efficiency and prosperity of the oil mill industry.

Celebrating Golden Ticket Winners

This year, we’re thrilled to highlight the winners of the IOMSA Golden Ticket representing the best in grain processing facilities, eager to learn, grow, and connect at Exchange 2025. The winners, who will be celebrated at the event, are:

  • Katherine Johns, Cargill Inc, Cedar Rapids, IA
  • Daniel Kleine, South Dakota Soybean Processors, Volga, SD
  • Julia Nester, Consolidated Grain and Barge, Edon, OH
  • Lance Schreiber, Ringneck Energy, Onida, SD
  • Ryan Slama, CHS Inc, Mankato, MN

The IOMSA Golden Ticket aligns with the launch of a new GEAPS Exchange educational track focused on grain processing. This track will offer attendees valuable insights into crucial industry topics, such as:

  • Extraction methods, safety regulations, and grain quality control
  • Soybean processing techniques, including preparation and extraction, and their impact on product quality and yield
  • The growing role of oils in renewable energy, including biodiesel, plastics, and sustainable aviation fuel

John Caupert, GEAPS Executive Director, is excited about how GEAPS is working to bring more processing professionals together at Exchange.

“These winners represent a great cross section of professionals involved in the grain supply chain, from farm to fork, farm to fuel, and farm to the hundreds of other products made from grain.  We’re excited to welcome them to Exchange so we can all learn together,” said Caupert.

To further help attendees to make connections with others working in grain processing, GEAPS will offer a grain processor Meet-Up on Sunday February 23 during the Welcome Reception in the Expo Hall.
